Victoria & Alfred Hotel

star star star star

Framed by the Atlantic Ocean and Table Mountain, the elegance and luxury of the Victoria & Alfred Hotel is rivalled only by its relaxed atmosphere and warm personal service. Built in 1904 as the North Quay Warehouse and converted in 1990 to a luxury hotel, it is named in honour of the Queen of England and her son who visited the Cape in 1870, when Prince Alfred officially opened the Breakwater basin, today’s Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. The hotel was refurbished in 2005 and at the same time an additional 26 luxurious guest rooms where added. All 94 elegant rooms have been creatively styled and are well-appointed; they are over just three floors and have views, providing intimacy and friendliness without being intrusive. Dining in the OYO restaurant is both a visual and culinary delight as each table overlooks the harbour and majestic Table Mountain. You can enjoy the seafood specialities while dining al fresco on OYO’s quayside terrace and unique setting.

Accommodation

It's the detail that gives the Victoria & Alfred Hotel its elegance, intimacy, romance and reputation; the wooden staircase, the telescope, flowers and the service, friendly and efficient yet never intrusive. Then there are the 94 bedrooms - air-conditioned, en-suite rooms with separate bath, shower and toilet, ultra comfortable, with king sized beds, creatively styled and well appointed, on just three floors. All have coffee and tea on tap, with private bar, safe, trouser press, High Speed Broad Band Internet connectivity Pay-for View Television and state-of-the-art flat screen televisions. Every single one has a view over the ever awake Alfred Basin, majestic Table Mountain or the piazza. Wireless internet is also accessible throughout the Hotel. The vibrancy and local colour here might make you want to leave the splendour of your surroundings to mingle with the buskers and dancers who bring indigenous music to life. On the other hand, the rooms are so luxurious; we'd be surprised if you'd want to leave!
