Casa Velha do Palheiro - Funchal
A member of the Relais & Chateaux since 2001, Casa Velha (“Old House”) nestles in the hills above Funchal and is set within the famous original Gardens of Palheiro bordered by the Palheiro Golf Course. Once a 19th century hunting lodge, it was lovingly restored in 1997 as Madeira’s first five star Country House Hotel. Casa Velha lies in subtropical landscaped gardens and is uniquely the only property in Madeira situated on a golf course. All the rooms are individually designed and decorated, with the “haute cuisine” table d’haute and a la carte menus presented by award winning French chef and one of the best on the island.
Palheiros Spa opened May 09 is a perfect compliment to the existing attractions at the Casa Velha which also include the renowned Palheiro Gardens and for golfers the Palheiros golf course . Madeira’s other course the Santo de Serra is only 15 minutes away.
