Palácio de Tavira is born from its surroundings. soft tone and local material blending with the influence of Portugal’s old nobility with Moorish culture. Tavira itself is nestled between sea and land, offering easy access to some of the Algarve’s most stunning beaches, long and golden stretches. And for those drawn to the fairway, there are 6 great golf courses within a 10 to 25-minute drive, making the hotel an ideal base. All less busy than their illustrious neighbours in the west, not least the excellent Monte Rei, voted no 1 in the Algarve, other courses that should be played are Seve's signature course Quinta do Vale, Quinta da Ria & sister course Quinta da Cima, Benamor and Castro Marin.
For dining Mirsal, the main restaurant, celebrates the flavours of the south. Portuguese cuisine with Mediterranean and Moorish influences. Bar da Lua, with its relaxed atmosphere and outdoor space, is perfect for stretching out the evening with well-made cocktails and Portuguese wines. The Luma Spa, inspired by coastal traditions, offers a space of calm and renewal—an invitation to pause and breathe. A sauna, steam room, and a curated selection of treatments help relax body and mind after a day of exploration. Above, on the rooftop, two large plunge pools provide a peaceful spot to unwind with open views overTavira.
Tavira's cobbled stone streets are littered with alfresco traditional restaurants, where the quality and variety of the local food is excellent. Some of our favourites are Ai Mae for its first class service and attention to details. Others are Brisa do Rio with its roof top dining and D'Gusta a top tapas restaurant overlooking the waters of Tavira Island.
